1. Any plans to offer a Python (vs. PHP) interface?
2. Is there a test portal where we can see what info gets reported for a specific device without having to set up a test page ourselves?
Thank you,
Malcolm

Handset Detection
Hi Malcolm,
1. Yes ! No exact date as yet. It will be in a fairly short timeframe (the next 3 to 6 weeks).
There will be a blurb about it in the next newsletter.
2. Yes - You can see the device information on the "Handset List" page (link at the bottom of the page).
Cheers

Richard,
1. Great news on the Python support! Will you be sending out an annoucement when your Python support is available?
2. I'm familiar with the list of devices you support - what I'm looking for is a test site that I can contact from our customer devices to see exactly what gets reported for a specific device including geolocation info, etc. In other words, we want to see for ourselves what is happening with real vs. theoretical devices. I was hoping that you might have a test portal that potential customers could use to trial your service before committing to setting up a test system themselves.
Thank you,
Malcolm

Handset Detection
Hi Malcolm,
Yes, there will be an announcement.
Right, I get what you mean. Thats a good idea.
Would something that dumps the info about the current device out to the screen be ok ?
Im thinking just a few bits of info like vendor, model, screen size etc..
Cheers

Yes! Nothing to be used for production purposes, simply a demonstration tool for potential customers to see how your service works with their personal *real-life* devices vs. 7000+ *theoretical* devices. Right now, the only way to do this is to sign-up for your service and install the appropriate software. IMO this is a significant and unnecessary barrier.
In terms of what to show, I would show all device specific info (geolocation, ids, etc) and a few sample generic bits of info about the device (including screen resolution).
Thanks for listening.
Regards,
Malcolm
PS: Hurry up with that Python support :)
